Updates

  • National First Responders Day, October 28, recognizes Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Paramedics, and 911 dispatchers who answer the call when disaster strikes. They make the choice to serve others by bringing them to safety. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office would like to recognize the fact that we can’t do it alone. It takes all first responder agencies working as one to bring the safest environment to Beaufort County that we can. We continually train throughout the year together to make sure we are as prepared as possible. We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all first responders and keep up the hard work!

  • Domestic violence is defined as the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. South Carolina consistently ranks in the top 10 worst states for deadly violence against women, however, domestic violence can affect anyone no matter gender or age. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office currently has four Victims Advocates. Their role is to support victims of any crime or situation. They are here to assist in court proceedings, aide in obtaining Protection Orders, conduct Health and Welfare checks, as well as many other things. Victims often feel they cannot leave a domestic violence situation. They could feel afraid to leave, have financial dependence, self-blame, and more, but we would like for anyone to know that there is assistance. Not only are we a resource, but Hopeful Horizons is also a great resource. Hopeful Horizons provides a safe shelter for victims and their children. They also can help with obtaining Protective Orders and assistance for living independently from their abuser. If you or someone you know is in a domestic violence situation and in need of assistance, call the 24-hour Crisis Line at 1-800-868-2632 or 843-770-1070. And of course, in an emergency dial 9-1-1. To leave a tip about a possible domestic violence situation, call our non-emergency dispatch line at 843-524-2777.
