About us
Becoming rentABLE is a platform dedicated to creating a social change in how the short-term rental industry looks at and defines an accessible short-term rental by advocating for and educating about accessible STR’s in the areas of mobility, cognition, hearing, sight, and aging The Becoming rentABLE website is the go-to source for easily finding accessible short-term rentals. Consumers can be confident with their choices of booking an accessible short-term rental, especially one that has been certified as accessible. Becoming rentABLE products include: Certification: Our certification program is designed to evaluate & validate what features are actually in an accessible short-term rental. We look at features for wheelchair, walker, hearing, vision, and Autism/Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) accessibility. A Becoming rentABLE certification allows renters to feel confident that the property they choose will have exactly what they need & that it has been confirmed by a 3rd party expert. Previously, renters would have to comb through hundreds, if not thousands, of properties to find a rental with features they needed & would still have to call hosts to verify features. Becoming rentABLE’s certification takes the guesswork out of renting an accessible short-term rental. Once certified, a renter can feel confident in the property they rent & the rental owner can reap the benefits of reaching a new market of people who want to travel. Evaluate My Property: Many property managers and owners do not understand what makes an accessible STR and commonly need assistance in evaluating if their property is accessible. Becoming rentABLE’s evaluation program takes the pressure off property managers & owners by letting us do all the work. Property managers & owners are able to provide their property URL& a trained team member will review and confirm if the property is wheelchair, walker, hearing, vision, & Autism/Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities

We need your vote!!! We are excited to announce that Lorraine Woodward, our Becoming rentABLE CEO, is a finalist for the Mama Ladder Grant. Your vote demonstrates the importance of disability inclusion and shows support for our mission to expand accessibility in the short-term rental and outdoor hospitality industries. Did you know that in United States there are 1.5 million short-term properties, of these, less than one percent or 1,500 are accessible. The current state of accessibility is unacceptable. We are changing that! Voting is available for the next 5 days! hashtag #AccessibleShortTermRentals hashtag #AccessibleTravel. hashtag #Accessibility hashtag #MamaLadderGrant. hashtag #Expedia. hashtag #iTrip. hashtag #NaturalRetreats. hashtag #Disability hashtag #OutdoorHospitality. hashtag #EvolveLodging Vote here today: https://shorturl.at/Ahn3C

Shout out to Melange Media for their October issue of Accessible Journeys. This is a must read publication, not just because we are featured on page 52, but because it is full of valuable information. This issue covers things from Adaptive sports and accessible transportation to increasing accessibility in the great outdoors, with a feature on the work the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation is doing. Our story, Adventure and Accessibility: A perfect match in Arkansas State Parks, showcases our teamwork with the park system to bring more visitors with disabilities to Arkansas. As a short-term rental property manager or host who is looking to promote your rental, don’t discount the value of accessibility. When people with disabilities travel for adaptive sports or to state park activities they need accessible accommodations. In this issue alone are @mymyrtlebeach, @chooselansing, @traveloregon and @visitlauderdale…all areas promoting accessibility and could benefit from an accessible short-term rental for visitors. There's nothing scarier on this Friday the 13th than not knowing what is behind your curtain! Attention short-term rental property managers and hosts....when taking photos of your bathrooms for your listing, pull back your curtain so we know if you have a bathtub, a step-in shower or a roll-in shower. This little detail helps a lot of people determine if your property will fit their needs. Details matter! alt= Video starting with a bathroom image of shower curtain closed and the title "What's Behind the Curtain? Friday the 13th Edition". Images scroll through different possible images behind a curtain including a dog, a scary clown and an accessible roll-in shower. End text shows Becoming rentABLE logo and text, "It isn't that scary...just pull back the curtain so we know." #BecomingRentABLE #AccessibleShortTermRentals##fridaythe13th #shower #curtains #scary #clown#unknown #accessibility #detailsmatter
