Speakers, participants, community partners, and activities will be announced, with a full schedule to follow. The 2nd annual Just-Us INDABA is centered around the theme of “cooperative economics,” also known as “Ujamaa,” the fourth principle of Kwanzaa. Ujamaa is the commitment to the practice of shared social wealth and the work necessary to achieve it. Ujamaa is a powerful principle that serves as a call to action for economic solidarity and self-sufficiency. It’s about building and sustaining an economy that reflects the community’s values and serves its needs, thus ensuring that the benefits of economic growth and success are shared among all its members. “Together, we are committed to dismantling the alarming rates of maternal and infant mortality and morbidity among Black, Indigenous, and Latino communities in South Carolina. Let's listen, learn, and collaborate for a brighter, healthier future. We aim to explore how cooperative models can enhance economic resilience and community empowerment, particularly within BIPOC communities,” says BEE Collective’s co-founder, Adrienne Troy-Frazier. “This year we will feature various sessions and workshops designed to delve into the potential of cooperative economics in fields such as birthwork, healing arts, and early childhood education.” 2023 JUST-US INDABA HIGHLIGHT REEL https://lnkd.in/eVtT22kc

BEE Collective x National Wildlife Federation: Supporting Child Care Centers Affected by Hurricane Helene We are incredibly grateful to our local partners who have contributed funds and essential items to support child care centers impacted by Hurricane Helene last week. Child care centers often play a critical role in disaster recovery, serving as places where families can access vital resources such as formula, diapers, wipes, and crisis support. Thanks to our joint efforts, we’ve already delivered supplies three times this week to centers in need! 💛 Our work continues, and we need your help! We are still accepting donations through the BEE Collective to provide ongoing disaster relief. Funds will go directly towards purchasing essential supplies to support families affected by the hurricane. Scan the QR code on next slide or donate via the link below and in our bio!
