Where Families Stay Together!
About us
Founded in 2017, Belknap House is a nonprofit that provides safe shelter to homeless families in Belknap County, NH. Families with children are especially vulnerable during homelessness and Belknap House strives to not only provide a safe shelter to families but to also empower them to become self-sufficient through educational opportunities and customized resource referrals. Through direct services, case management, community resource collaboration, and tenant accountability, Belknap House strives to support homeless parents with a helping hand. This approach requires parents to work hard in our programs to develop life-changing skills and confidence. As a result, families are on track to obtain a home of their own and have the tools to be better parents and resilient community members.

Belknap House was honored with the She Change Award by the New Hampshire Women's Foundation last week and we would like to take a moment to share more about the award and express our immense gratitude to the Foundation! The She Change Award is given to an innovative and impactful organization that inspires and engages its community and works to enhance life for women, girls, and gender-expansive people. The award consists of a generous $10,000 grant and the opportunity for Executive Director Paula Ferenc to address the Women Building Community Luncheon about our work at Belknap House. We cannot express how incredible it was to address the crowd at the Luncheon and chat with fellow change-makers from across the state about housing and economic stability for women and children. All of the organizations in attendance do incredible work and we are so honored to be a part of the Women's Foundation community! We would like to give a huge thank you to Tanna, Lauren, Crystal, and all of the NHWF staff and board for this honor - we are able to make change because of the work you do!
