The Center for Economic Opportunity & Belonging bridges Utah’s communities to foster belonging in several key areas.
About us
The Center for Economic Opportunity and Belonging bridges Utah’s communities to foster belonging where it matters most: our education, workforce, housing, and health. By aligning strategic decisions with community wisdom, we are building a Utah where every one of us can contribute our whole selves. Where every student receives a first-rate education. Where every professional can reach a fulfilling career. Where every family can find a dignified place to live. Where every person can get the healthcare they need to thrive. Where every one of our successes expands our collective potential – because each of us belongs. Bridges create belonging. Let’s build them together.

Tomorrow is Election Day. Many of us are tired, worried, and overwhelmed by the harmful words spread in the news. Regardless of the results, a large segment of our country will feel sad and defeated. It is important to remember that we are still one country - One America. We are neighbors, friends, and relatives. Continuing the cycle of divisiveness is ultimately unproductive and destructive not only in our personal lives but as a community and country. We urge you to take a stance of love, unity, and respect. Hoping for a better world where everyone can belong and thrive, starts with the individual. We encourage you to engage with the The Dignity Index to learn how to treat others with dignity. Take a course with The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center) to learn about nonviolence. Attend a Braver Angels workshop to learn skills on how to have respectful conversations with those you disagree with. Through individual and collective action, we can create communities of compassion and respect. We hope you will join us on this journey. #belonginutah

Last month, the Young Professional Network hosted a Braver Angels’ Older Reds/ Young Blues workshop. This workshop crossed not only political lines but also generational ones. Overall, participants realized they shared much in common despite differences. Creating belonging for all doesn’t mean agreeing on everything but rather recognizing and validating other’s humanity. #belonginutah Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs
