🔒 *ChatGPT Plugin Vulnerabilities Expose Risks of Sensitive Data Theft* Recent research by Salt Labs has revealed critical security flaws in ChatGPT plugins that could present significant risks to enterprise security. These vulnerabilities may allow attackers to control third-party user accounts, such as those on GitHub, potentially leading to unauthorized access to sensitive personal information. The research found that during the ChatGPT plugin installation process, it is possible for attackers to inject malicious plugins into user accounts. This could grant them access to proprietary data communicated through ChatGPT. Another issue was detected in PluginLab, a development platform for ChatGPT plugins, where improper verification of user IDs could result in account takeovers. Moreover, certain plugins were discovered to be prone to OAuth redirection, which could enable attackers to craft links that steal user credentials. Upon identification of these vulnerabilities, Salt Labs followed standard disclosure protocols and informed OpenAI and the implicated third-party vendors. The vulnerabilities were promptly addressed by the involved parties, and there is no record of these vulnerabilities being exploited thus far. Sources: https://lnkd.in/eg_hhDDb

📰 AI's Creative Limits: Human Connection in Art and Literature at Risk? A recent Authors' Guild event, led by journalist Steven Levy, tackled the rising apprehension amongst authors about artificial intelligence's capacity to create literary works. Levy challenged the audience to consider their feelings upon discovering a beloved novel was not penned by a human, but by AI. The predominant feeling of deceit highlighted a crucial aspect of reading and art as a whole: the deep-seated desire for human connection. The dialogue moved on to look at Google's AI chatbot, Gemini, which is designed to enhance productivity and creativity. However, Levy questioned its ability to foster true creativity, offering examples such as coordinating snack schedules for youth soccer and contriving captions for family pets. Levy suggests that creativity is inextricably linked to the human experience, and the substitution of AI in spaces meant for personal expression could dilute the intrinsic human element in communications. Eminent voices like Dennis Yi Tenen, Associate Professor at Columbia University, echo Levy's sentiments. In his book "Literary Theory for Robots," he acknowledges writing's susceptibility to automation yet forecasts that human ingenuity paired with AI will surpass automated outputs, maintaining the unique human perspective in content creation. As AI's role in content generation grows, Levy underscores the need to preserve the human spirit in art. He foresees a future of combined human and AI authorship, but insists the primacy of human interaction remains unrivaled in art. 📰 Adapting to a Post-Cookie Marketing Landscape With the forthcoming end to third-party cookies, marketers face a turning point in digital advertising. This shift necessitates the implementation of new strategies and rethinking of current practices. High quality first-party data is increasingly important to maintain its accuracy and relevance, and to comply with evolving privacy regulations. The enhanced importance of zero-party data, directly provided by customers indicating their preferences, is reshaping marketing engagement strategies. Marketers are now reassessing the role of identity data within their funnels, with some considering the cost-effectiveness of broader targeting alternatives over highly granular individual-level marketing. As preparations for the post-cookie environment continue, experimentation with alternative identifiers is critical. Options like Unified ID 2.0, Authenticated Traffic Solution by LiveRamp, and ID5’s Universal ID represent a few of the numerous approaches being explored to reconcile personalized marketing with user privacy in the absence of third-party cookies. Moreover, with the rise in consumer privacy protection, there's a push to transition from traditional multi-touch attribution methods toward new models that measure the incremental value of customer relationships over time. This customer-centric approach to measurement promises a clearer understanding of marketing’s impact on long-term profitability and customer lifetime value. Embracing these forthcoming alterations is not merely about survival but about leveraging the changes to achieve a competitive edge by refining first-party data management, utilizing better insights, exploring new identifiers, and pursuing more detailed measurement techniques.
