Bensonwood recently sponsored and attended a Northeast Sustainable Energy Association Pro Tour at a Tektoniks build site in Reading, VT. The featured historic home is undergoing a large addition and net-zero energy retrofit. The day started off at Ascutney outdoors with presentations from Bensonwood, DiMella Shaffer, Snowdog Construction, the homeowner, and other professionals involved with the project. Next, the group traveled to site to hear further presentations about both the retrofit and the Bensonwood Tektoniks addition. It was a highly informative experience and an incredible hands-on opportunity for attendees to have their questions answered by the trades professionals involved with the project. Sipping coffee overlooking the water and searching for seashells is on the docket for the new homeowners of this waterfront Tektoniks home in Georgetown, Maine. A set of 29 concrete piers holds this home at a 12-foot elevation. Our architectural partners at Theodore + Theodore Architects integrated the piers so that the home could be close to the water while still meeting building code. Extra recreational space was added under the piers to maximize the design. It's the perfect space to sit and enjoy the connection to nature.
