Located at One Bergen County Plaza on the 4th Floor, the Bergen County Department of Planning and Engineering’s primary mission is to advance the quality of life for residents and businesses within Bergen County through the ongoing assessment of regional planning and transportation needs. The Department is utilizing and developing new information technology to benefit the public and ensuring responsible land use and development within the County while promoting capital infrastructure investments with benefits to our region.
The Planning Division consists of the Office of Regional Planning and Transportation, the Office of Development Review, and the Office of Data Resources and Technology. The Division also includes the County Planning Board and coordination of the Construction Board of Appeals.
The Engineering Division strives for improvements through various transportation infrastructure projects that include bridges, culverts, drainage systems, roadways and signalized intersections under County jurisdiction. The Division administers these infrastructure improvement projects from concept through construction. The Division continues to modernize infrastructure to improve the safety and movement of traffic along County roadways while remaining compliant with new regulations and design requirements. Overall, the Bergen County Department of Planning and Engineering continues to improve and upgrade the infrastructure within the County while maintaining the quality of life in the largest County in the State of New Jersey.
