About us

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is an Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) regional corporation for the Bering Strait and Norton Sound region and is owned by more than 8,000 Alaska Native shareholders. The BSNC region is located in Northwest Alaska and is home to three culturally distinct people: Inupiat, Siberian Yupik and Central Yup'ik. BSNC actively pursues responsible development of resources and other business opportunities. Through its subsidiaries, BSNC serves the federal government and commercial customers. BSNC owns and manages the subsurface estate of the region's 17 village corporations (approximately 2 million acres), as well as the surface and subsurface estates of an additional 145,000 acres. The Corporation is headquartered in Nome, Alaska, and its primary business office is located in Anchorage, Alaska. BSNC has site locations throughout Alaska, across the United States and internationally.

  • BSNC is pleased to announce two shareholder promotions: Lucille Sands is being promoted to Senior Vice President of Regional and Shareholder Services and Haven Harris is being promoted to Senior Vice President of Growth and Strategy. Sands has been employed by BSNC for many years, and has worked across many departments, which enhances her ability to assist management in meeting our commitment to shareholders and descendants. Sands previously served as Vice President of Shareholder Development. She earned a master’s degree in business administration from Western Governor’s University, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Minor in Alaska Native Business Management from the University of Alaska Anchorage and an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Sands was appointed by Governor Dunleavy to the State of Alaska Workforce Investment Board. She spent her childhood in Teller and Nome before moving to Anchorage and is an enrolled member of the Native Village of Teller. Harris first began working for BSNC in 2008. He has 16 years of government contracting and business development experience. Prior to rejoining BSNC in 2021, Harris served as Vice President of Business Development for St. George Tanaq Corporation. He formerly served on the boards of the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation and Sitnasuak Native Corporation and currently serves on the Boards of the Alaska Native Heritage Center and the Alaska Community Foundation. Harris earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Harris was born and raised in Nome and is an enrolled tribal member of the Nome Eskimo Community.

This position is responsible for supporting the Company’s Contracts Department by preparing contractual agreements utilizing Company template forms, entering contractual information in the Company’s systems, and assisting with quality control monitoring of the Company’s agreements.
