Analysts project the overall asset-based lending market to grow at a compound annual growth rate of ~16 percent to $1.65 trillion by 2030 on the back of rising demand for alternative financing, expansion into emerging markets, and streamlined asset valuations via digital platforms, among other factors. But in 2025, the dynamics between lenders and borrowers are shifting in critical ways. Rudy Morando and Evan Hengel discuss this and more in their article in the 2025 Outlook issue of ThinkSet magazine. Following the flurry of new US export controls driven by geopolitical dynamics, signals from both the US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and Congress point to an imminent corporate enforcement wave based on the “high probability” standard. This standard has been in the law for decades and now is being applied across US federal agencies as a key component of an emerging “national security paradigm.” On March 5, Brent Carlson and Michael Huneke (Hughes Hubbard & Reed) will present in an Export Compliance Training Institute (ECTI) webinar that will focus on understanding the standard: its origin, significance, and why it matters more than ever. This webinar will provide practical strategies for mitigating increasing enforcement risks—driven by geopolitical dynamics—by applying this standard in corporate compliance programs and risk management for companies and their officers and directors. Jesse R. Morton, an expert in BRG's Employee Retention Credits (ERCs) practice, recently commented on President Trump’s nomination for commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS is facing challenges as tax season begins, including over $20 billion in budget cuts, a significant backlog of ERC claims, and a hiring freeze that could potentially impact the agency's ability to recruit and retain experienced staff. Morton said, “Somebody who actually has experience with the program and is knowledgeable about the good, the bad and the ugly of the program has a perhaps better and more realistic perspective [and] is going to be positive for the IRS.” Read the full article in Accounting Today → https://lnkd.in/erXGFR-d #BRGExpert #IRS #ERCclaims #HiringFreeze
