About us
Bernie Yazzie Consulting (BYC) LLC is a small Native American-owned and -operated Healthcare Systems Consulting and Education company founded in 2016. We began with an initial focus on providing Healthcare Financial and Revenue Cycle Management but have expanded to specialize in providing a variety of services to meet our clients' diverse needs in areas where other companies do not provide services. RPMS-based Indian Health Service and Tribally-owned and -operated care organizations often make the mistake of buying into new systems that are overpriced and insufficient. It is tempting to overspend on bells and whistles when the real value is in a team of experts who examine the efficiency, processes, and structures within healthcare organizations to ensure medical facilities and hospitals run their business efficiently and effectively. Our capacity to identify the array of existing issues associated with specific organizational needs, along with our ability to introduce interventions and trainings has resulted in improved practices, outcomes, and tangible costs savings for our clients.

When your healthcare facility was established, did you know everything you know now? The journey from inception to now has undoubtedly involved learning some tough lessons to become the vital resource you are today. Yet, it's possible that critical factors are still being overlooked. One such example involves a recent client who approached us with significant challenges in coding and staff training. They had always prioritized quality patient care but hadn’t fully realized the impact that a robust coding process and comprehensive staff training could have. Our solution? A complete overhaul of their coding process coupled with in-depth training sessions. The outcome was transformative: substantially reduced billing errors and backlogs, and a staff that’s not only more confident, but also more equipped to code an array of healthcare visit types. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help bolster Native American healthcare facilities and tailor our solutions to meet the unique needs in every case. Together, we are stronger, wiser, and more fortified. Thank you to all our partners for trusting Bernie Yazzie Consulting in empowering our community. #HealthcareConsulting #TribalHealth #SuccessStory #NativeOwned #NativeLed

It’s Women’s History Month and we’re celebrating Native leaders, past and present, all month. Of course, our kickoff post had to be Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte (Omaha), the first Indigenous woman to earn a medical degree. Picotte was an accomplished doctor, an advocate for her people, and a reformer, all well before Indians were granted citizenship and women even had the right to vote. What Indigenous woman are you celebrating this month? #WomensHistoryMonth #SusanPicotte #IHSCelebratesNativeWomen
