Face-to-face is the most powerful way to network and partner. Bessel attended this summer's AIM Health R&D Summit. Early conversations from San Antonio are turning into opportunities to collaborate. We were proud to showcase #PoweredbyBessel companies like Fulmer Instruments, LLC, NEVENT, Percy , and Trion Concepts. This showcased their products and, most importantly, developed interest from potential partners. “We wanted people to know us, and meet us,” says Andres Gutierrez from Bessel. “These are great opportunities for people to know how we help startups make their visions real.” Thank you, VelocityTX, Patricia Geppert, and Alamo Angels, for a great event! #medicaldevice #startup #accelerator

We had a great time with the #founders and #startupleaders in our recent #PoweredbyBessel cohort at Hatch Fairhope. Thank you to our keynote speakers, Ben Fulmer at our finale and Dr. Mark Coreil at our kickoff. #ClinicianFounders Their startups are #PoweredbyBessel and we're thrilled to help realize their vision. https://lnkd.in/gPKPGuxf #medicaldevice #startups #dental
An experienced surgeon sees the persistent problems worth tackling. An innovator has the creative spark and drive to solve those problems. Surgeon-founders like Ben Fulmer bring both to their #startups. Thank you for sharing your journey at the #PoweredbyBessel finale, Dr. Fulmer! It's a privilege to be part of your team. #medicaldevice #innovation Hatch Fairhope

A great startup that just wrapped up our recent accelerator program! Kudos, Greg Parranto and Endeavor Orthopaedics, LLC! https://lnkd.in/gxYgFGFy #PoweredbyBessel Hatch Fairhope
On September 4th at 2PM PST, we welcome three new companies to present their opportunity to investors. Endeavor Orthopaedics, LLC Endeavor Orthopaedics is an IP-protected platform technology company focused on treating avulsion fractures by integrating fracture repair with soft tissue management in a single sterile implant. The company’s first FDA-cleared and commercially available product is the Summit Patella Plating System, with future products planned for the elbow, shoulder, and hip. These target just over 9% of the 6.5 million fractures occurring annually in the U.S., representing a market value of over $2 billion. The company has successfully conducted 85 surgeries to date. SentryX SentryX is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company aiming to revolutionize pain management after major surgery. Using highly innovative biomaterials, it develops non-opioid local pain treatments that are easy to use and cover the critical first three days of recovery, helping patients get back on their feet quicker and in better shape. PathKeeper PathKeeper has developed a direct optical navigation spine navigation system that tracks the direct anatomy using radiation-free optical imaging which provides physicians with a sub-millimeter level of surgical accuracy. The system aims to be fast, accurate, safe, portable, and cost-effective. Since receiving its first 510k in March 2023, PathKeeper has completed a successful Alpha Launch at select hospitals in the northeast US and Israel. They have performed more than 100 successful surgeries and recently sold their first units. Our recent #PoweredbyBessel accelerator cohort built a community among innovators with a shared goal of improving patient lives. Envisioned by Bessel commercial advisor Christopher St. Pierre as a way “to bridge Silicon Valley to the Mobile Bay,” The Powered by Bessel medical innovation accelerator hosted by Hatch Fairhope is a program that empowers medtech startups to deliver breakthroughs that scale. Ryan DeBoer, CEO of The Shape Sensing Company, says, “Being part of the Powered by Bessel accelerator at Hatch Fairhope has been a game-changer—helping us land major customers, sharpen our story, and build lifelong connections with other founders who’ll keep pushing us forward.” Startups received expert guidance from industry mentors and advisors and participated in the Powered by Bessel program developed by Bessel CEO Chris Danek. This was the first cohort-based format delivery of the program, which has been refined over more than ten years with many startup teams to help boost their strategy, execution, and fundraising. Startups achieved significant milestones in product development, partnerships, and commercial sales during the summer program, with support from their fellow founders and guidance from the cohort leader, Chris Danek, CEO of Bessel. Chris noted, “Many of the companies took great value from the workshop focused on technology strategy and strategic partnerings. However, the program value transcends the specialized workshops and consulting. At its core, it is about and for the innovators dedicated to improving patients’ lives. We built and will continue fostering a community of cohesion and mutual support among these inspiring founders.” Innovate Alabama provided funding to Hatch Fairhope for this cohort. #InnovatorSpotlight Sleep therapists don’t need to know if you had a good night’s sleep. They need to know why you didn’t. ❌ Here’s the problem: Biometrics + Medicine ≠ Better Sleep. ✅ Founder and CEO Conner Herman, BCBA, MBA is creating the solution: Percy scales behavioral sleep therapy by providing actionable data directly to the provider. Conner and Percy are moving fast, iterating their product design and striking clinical partnerships to develop better approaches to treating #autism. Her vision points to a better way to improve sleep and outcomes across an “unbounded” range of health, wellness, and human performance domains. Conner is in demand as a speaker at healthcare innovation conferences. It has been a treat to see how the founders in the current cohort have helped each other forward. It’s fair to say that Conner inspires and has been inspired. “Thanks for the boost,” is one of my favorite recent quotes from Conner. 🌟 Hatch Fairhope #PoweredbyBessel Medical Innovation Accelerator 🌟 I look forward to hearing from Conner and the other founders at the upcoming finale. #partneringstrategy is helping Ryan DeBoer and The Shape Sensing Company transform endoscopic, endovascular, and minimally invasive surgical procedures. Keep going! https://lnkd.in/gtYp9qui #roboticsurgery #medicaldevice #startups Hatch Fairhope #PoweredbyBessel
The Shape Sensing Company is developing technology to help doctors see better and achieve better outcomes. Using technology spun out of NASA, they provide 3D visualization along the entire length of a medical device without using radiation. This has the potential to become the primary or auxiliary visualization modality for any minimally invasive procedure where the doctor cannot directly see where they are working. It will adapt to scopes, catheters, surgical instruments, and robotic surgical platforms. This technology will bring 3D tools to doctors that engineers have enjoyed for many years. CEO Ryan DeBoer said, “Our goal is to provide precise navigation and real-time feedback, ensuring safer and more efficient procedures.” I was excited to meet Ryan and Alex Tongue at #LSIUSA24, and I am proud we’re helping them through our #PoweredbyBessel program. It is a rare opportunity to contribute to a technology platform that can transform so many aspects of medicine. Ryan will present The Shape Sensing Company at the Hatch Fairhope Powered by Bessel medical innovation accelerator finale later this month. #innovatorspotlight Founder Rhodel Dacanay envisions a world without retained guidewires, a debilitating and preventable complication in which the guidewire is left behind after removing a central catheter. He set out to engineer away this human error for safer patient care. The result? A patented design to provide peace of mind without changing clinician workflow. This year 1540 patients in the US will suffer from a retained guidewire, a medical error that carries a 5.5% mortality and 10% serious morbidity rate. This error costs the healthcare system $830 million per year and has been declared a Joint Commission never event. Bessel is proud to help Nevent and Dr. Dacanay in our #poweredbybessel accelerator at Hatch Fairhope. Dr. Dacanay shared the benefits of the program, “On a tangible level, I have gained insights and opportunities for funding and technical assistance that will accelerate the development and shorten the time to patients for Nevent’s medical safety device that will make retained guidelines one less risk our patients take when receiving medical care.” We met Dr. Dacanay at #LSIUSA24 where we announced the #PoweredbyBessel cohort at @Hatch Fairhope. His progress and contributions to our cohort inspire us! We’re looking forward to his presentation at the finale in Fairhope, AL, later this month. #medicaldevice #startups LSI
