Around the world, women make an important, if not indispensable, contribution to agriculture, rural development and food security. About half of our world’s 550 million smallholder farmers are women and face numerous obstacles. #BetterLifeFarming celebrates women farmers and their work not just on International Women’s Day but every day. We support them by providing access to education and farming solutions and encourage them to become entrepreneurs and empower other women in their communities – creating a meaningful impact in their lives. #HealthForAll #HungerForNone #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion Visit also our Better Life Farming website to hear more from our women agri-entrepreneurs and farmers directly: https://lnkd.in/eKdA9_E5

Women farmers are key players in international food systems – after all they make up about 43% of the global agricultural labor force and in developing countries. Yet, their challenges are often severe, with access to extension service, credit, and inputs being often less available to them than their male counterparts. According to the FAO, ensuring women farmers the same access to resources as men, could lift 100 million people out of hunger globally. In this context, we could not be more proud to share that Better Life Farming (BLF) Bangladesh has received the prestigious DEI Champion of the Year 2023, Special Mention Award from the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry - FICCI for its work in empowering women in agriculture and impacting women agri-entrepreneurs, consultants, and farmers within it’s 3-tier ecosystem! From the beginning BLF worldwide aims to create gender-smart ecosystems accessible to women farmers and this achievement will only make us work harder to support and empower women farmers in their most vital contribution to food security for their families, their communities and us all. Special congratulations to our Bangaldesh team, local partners, and great women agri-consultant, agri-entrepreneurs and farmers! Are you curious to learn more about our 3-tier ecosystem? Smallholders in India are on the frontlines of climate change and affected by geopolitics – and yet, they remain positive about the future. This is the key message from a new survey, conducted by our global alliance partner Bayer. Bayer interviewed 2,056 Indian smallholder farmers - some of them also associated with #BetterLifeFarming centers - in India. Here are some of the key insights: ☀️ Indian smallholder farmers are impacted by climate change. 43% expect increased crop failure because of changing weather. 🔒 Mitigating risks is top-of-mind for smallholder farmers in India. 26% are prioritizing financial security through insurance. 📱 Access to innovation and technology remains important. 60% of surveyed farmers said they would most benefit from access to digital technologies and modern crop protection. ➡️ Learn more about the survey results here: https://lnkd.in/dMJGhfpQ

📢 Great news: #BetterLifeFarming is featured in this year's Global Agriculture Productivity (GAP) Report. The Global Agricultural Productivity (GAP) Report analyzes global agricultural productivity growth on an annual basis. To feed a growing population, agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) will need to increase to 1.91% by 2050. At 1.14% right now, we’re well below the target 1.73% annual growth rate needed to sustainably meet the global demand for agricultural produce. Smallholder farmers are a cornerstone of global food security, but they face significant challenges. To effectively support smallholders in unlocking their full potential, a holistic ecosystem approach and the expertise and services of a variety of partners is required. This is what #BetterLifeFarming stands for. Great to see our efforts highlighted within the report! ➡️ Read for yourselves here: https://lnkd.in/e-h7aRk9 #SmallholderFarming #AgProductivity23 #EveryFarmerEveryTool
