Let’s make mental health more than just crisis management. Last year, World Mental Health Day came and went, and I was so preoccupied with the demands of work and life that I missed the opportunity to truly reflect on its significance. I promised myself then that 2024 would be different—that I would plan ahead and use this day to not only celebrate mental health but to share the importance of well-being in global mobility. Today, I’m fulfilling that promise as I spend the day at the Philadelphia Area Relocation Council (PARC), speaking to a group of global mobility professionals about the critical role of mental health and wellness for families in transition. With hundreds of thousands of families relocating around the world each year, it’s essential that employers have the foresight to plan for their employees’ well-being. When they do, it can transform the relocation experience into a positive chapter in their lives. Supporting families as they navigate both the triumphs and trials of moving to a new home isn’t just about logistics—it’s about ensuring they have the emotional and psychological support to thrive.
