Founded in 2015 to provide active-duty SOF members with post-deployment decompression programs in restorative Montana.
About us
Mission: There are over 45,000 nonprofits in the United States that support our veterans. Big Sky Bravery focuses solely on active duty SOF - those who remain in the fight. This community makes up only 3% of the U.S. Armed Forces but has suffered over half of all combat casualties in recent years. These are the few who have shouldered our freedom, our safety, and the longest conflict in U.S. history. They do so under the radar and out of the spotlight. It is because of their selflessness and bravery that we are able to live in a safe and free America. Big Sky Bravery was founded in 2015 to provide weeklong programs (Task Forces) in Montana’s restorative surroundings. These Task Forces are an all-expense, world-class experience that grants these individuals the rare opportunity to decompress, rediscover what was lost on the battlefield, and experience the hope and freedom they are all fighting for.

“To the family at Big Sky Bravery, It’s challenging to determine where to start with the benefits of this phenomenal program. The opportunity to recalibrate and recharge in the natural wonder and beauty of Montana is something that is priceless. Our profession requires us to isolate and section off experiences into our deep recesses. This compartmentalization is necessary because if we are to allow our experiences to run through us unchecked, they can threaten to overwhelm and overtake us. The internal vessels that we use to contain these experiences have a finite amount of room and at some point, will threaten to overflow. BSB is a pressure valve that successfully vented off the build-up of 20-plus years for me and did so in a one-week Task Force. “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” This quote has been attributed to everyone from Winston Churchill to Ronald Reagan; wherever its origin, the words remain true today. On the back of a horse, deep in the Montana backcountry, alongside five new teammates, I found a peace and quietude that has been a challenge to obtain over the years. Thank you for your hospitality and generosity in taking care of those who are most often the last to say they need “taking care of.” To the staff and volunteers at Big Sky Bravery, the entire Montana community, and donors beyond, thank you for this opportunity to stop, breathe, and remember why people choose a life of service. You have made me a better husband and father. Thank you. -D.” https://lnkd.in/g7zB2mKZ

Celebrating 9 Years of Impact September 26th marked a special milestone—Big Sky Bravery’s 9th anniversary of our official founding! Since day one, our mission has been to provide critical support and unforgettable experiences for our nation’s SOF warriors. Over the past nine years, we’ve completed 132 weeklong Task Forces, served 605 recipients, supported 11 families, and connected with countless alumni. Each moment has been a testament to the power of community and resilience. This is just the beginning. Our vision is to create a lasting, generational impact, and thanks to your unwavering support, we’re well on our way. To every donor, volunteer, and advocate, thank you for standing by us. Together, we are making a profound difference in the lives of those who serve our country. Here’s to many more years of giving back to those who guard the freedom of this nation! To Our Valued Supporters, We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended and supported Big Sky Bravery’s 7th Annual Tribute Dinner. Your incredible generosity and unwavering commitment to our mission have truly humbled us. We are thrilled to share that, thanks to your overwhelming support, we raised $2.033M! Another milestone was reached that will propel our organization forward, directly fueling the growth of our programs. In direct relation to the funds raised that night, we are thrilled to announce that we will increase our program recipients by 26% in 2025. This means we can welcome more active-duty warfighters and their families into our programs, providing them with the vital, life-saving support they need. As we embark on our bold move to build on our property in Big Sky, these funds, along with our capital campaign that will be introduced in early 2025, will significantly help grow our footprint for those we serve. Your contributions are not just numbers—they are a beacon of hope for those who have courageously served our nation. Together, we are making a generational impact—one that will ripple through the lives of those we support and the communities they return to. On behalf of all of us at Big Sky Bravery, thank you for your incredible generosity and belief in our mission. With your support, we are changing lives, one hero at a time. With our deepest appreciation, The Big Sky Bravery Team
