This year has brought a surge in dengue across the world associated with higher temperatures. Another reminder it is essential to track these threats across nations and model drivers of infections.
CDC issues Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Advisory to notify healthcare providers, public health authorities and the public of an increased risk of dengue virus (DENV) infections in U.S. in 2024 Providers should: 1) Have increased suspicion of dengue among people with fever who have been in areas with frequent or continuous dengue transmission within 14 days before illness onset 2) Order appropriate diagnostic tests for acute DENV infection. 3) Ensure timely reporting of dengue cases to public health authorities. 4) Promote mosquito bite prevention measures among people living in or visiting areas with frequent or continuous dengue transmission.
