We are announcing that on Friday October 11 next month at Www.distillersfestwest.com we will be introducing our super Rare barley called Purple Egyptian grown by Palous Heritage in washington state. We only have one barrel this year and I expect supples not to last very long. Don Scheuerman will be there talking about the barley and its achient roots. More to come so get a ticket soon. The New York International Spirits competition just finished and we did quite well. A double gold from an oregon barley called full pint and a few other respectable scores in the 90’s. Super proud of all the farmers we buy from our great team and awesome suppliers. Well deserved all around. #whiskey #americansinglemalt

Smooth.Caremel, Vanilla, Balanced, some simple words to describe the whiskey made from this rare barely. Over the past several years we have distilled a barley called Baronesse. It is a heritage variety originally from germany. One farmer grows it in Colfax washington making it super rare. The American Farmer is always overlooked or appreciated when it comes to commodity products like barley. When a farmer carves out a specialty product Bird Creek tends to try to celebrate this differentiation. Finding farmers who do this has been so good for our whiskey exploration it’s hard to put into words. The last few years we won so many awards from this barley it’s crazy.
