Bizzell International and Bizzell Global are proud to have participated in the U.S.-Africa Business Center event at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce this month. Our CEO, Anton Bizzell [Anton C. Bizzell, MD], had the distinct honor of delivering the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the private sector, recognizing His Excellency, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, and the Gabonese delegation.   Bizzell highlighted their commitment to and focus on addressing one of Gabon’s most pressing challenges—food insecurity. Despite its rich natural resources, Gabon remains heavily dependent on imports to feed its population, with most of its food supply coming from abroad. This reliance on exports makes the country vulnerable to global supply chain disruptions and price fluctuations. With Bizzell’s partnership, Gabon aims to reduce this dependency by significantly boosting local agricultural production. Key initiatives include:   5,000-hectare (12,355-acre) maize and soybean plantation in Ndjokal/Roungassa. This Public-Private Partnership will aim to produce 20,000 tons of maize and 11,200 tons of soybeans annually by 2028, reducing the need for imported livestock feed. 2,000 hectares (4,942 acres) of cassava and 1,000 hectares (2,471 acres) of bananas. By cultivating cassava and bananas locally, and establishing a cassava processing unit, Gabon can reduce food imports and make strides towards self-sufficiency. Agricultural development in Kango and Andem covering 23,000 hectares (56,834 acres) in Kango and 7,952 hectares (19,651 acres) in Andem. This project will enhance crop production of staple foods like cassava, taro, sweet potatoes, and fruits, alongside poultry, pig farming, and aquaculture, to boost local food supplies.   These projects leverage Bizzell’s unique expertise in agribusiness and agricultural value chain development, addressing food insecurity and ensuring a more sustainable agricultural future for Gabon. Walking the Line: Reducing Pedestrian Casualties Through Safer Streets With the focus on National Pedestrian Safety throughout the month of October, we are reminded that pedestrian safety requires everyone’s vigilance—every month of the year. Bizzell highlights and work alongside with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in urging drivers to prioritize pedestrian safety year-round. With pedestrian fatalities at concerning levels—one life lost every 70 minutes in traffic incidents—there is a pressing need to focus on safer streets. Why It Matters: Walking enhances our health, communities, and environment. However, without proactive safety measures, pedestrians face high risks, particularly at night, in locations without sidewalks, and with speeding vehicles. Long Beach Job Corps Center recently hosted its National Commencement Day, celebrating the achievements of 45 graduates in a ceremony held at the center's gymnasium. As we conclude the summer internship experience, we proudly recognize the exceptional contributions of our interns: Asha, Pernell, Isaiah, and Naomi. Their capstone presentation highlighted their ability to tackle challenges, collaborate, and deliver impactful solutions, demonstrating a strong grasp of modern web development and cybersecurity. Their clear, professional presentation and the materials they developed are now key to enhancing user experience.   The capstone project featured communications interns developing animated videos and instructional one-pagers to clarify the registration and profile creation process.
