It's our birthday! Black Cat was officially formed in July 2016 so we're celebrating EIGHT years of mappiness. We wouldn't be here without continued support from our friends and we're grateful everyday you trust us with your important projects. Seriously, thanks for everything. You've given this dirty, old, wildlife biologist the opportunity to do some amazing things, hire some amazing staff, and grow this little business born out of bad luck into something special. Thanks for helping us achieve our mappily ever after!

About us
For business, government and conservation clients who require superior quality mapping products, Black Cat is a consulting firm that will deliver on time, on budget, and exceed client expectations. Unlike other GIS firms, Black Cat has a strong background in biology. Past experience in the natural resources field has given us a unique and vast set of tools to solve your conservation needs. Black Cat has working relationships with many non-profit and governmental agencies. This network allows us to be up to date on the latest information on GIS techniques, ongoing local projects, and wildlife regulations. While based out of the Upper Texas Coast, we regularly keep in touch with colleagues across the United States and Mexico. Black Cat attends professional conferences yearly to maintain those relationships and to present client products to wider audiences. Our niche is biology related spatial analysis, research and scientific writing. We're perfectionists and want to deliver a product that excels at communicating information in a professional manner.

We'll be at the Texas Plastic Pollution Symposium next week in Corpus Christi with the Black Cat booth. Amanda Hackney will be presenting on our spatial model that estimates hotspots of marine debris in the Lower Galveston Bay Watershed. Stop by and say hi! Take a look at our interactive map showing trash hotspots here:

We’ve enjoyed our time this year at the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society annual conference in Houston. We hope to see you next year!
Thanks everyone for stopping by my (inadvertently but blessedly fluffy) poster this morning! You can find me at the Black Cat GIS table in the exhibit hall for a bit longer if you have any questions.

Come find us at the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society meeting. We’d love to hear what you’re working on - and live for good field work stories! As always, ready to talk to you about your GIS projects, but also have some stellar restaurant recommendations, courtesy of Amanda Hackney .

The Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society meeting is next week and we're packing all of our booth supplies! Stop by the Black Cat booth to meet Amanda Hackney and Jessica Lucas to talk over project ideas and to take an "e-tour" some of our ongoing online products for current clients. Plus we've got some cute new stickers to lure you over ;) Be sure to catch our talk on Thursday afternoon at 3pm: A biologist’s review of ESRI field data collecting apps: selecting the best tool for your needs. We'll also have a poster during the professional session on the ArcGIS Dashboard we designed for SPLASh Texas. We're happy to run you through a demo of this data driven tool!

We're so proud of our partners at SPLASh Texas for many reasons, including their selection as a Texan by Nature Conservation Wrangler for 2023! Check out the results of SPLASh's hard work last year in this TxN Return on Conservation™ Index, highlighting the benefits of SPLASh cleanup events and educational programming. https://lnkd.in/gpV7nhij Black Cat maintains some great ArcGIS Online products for SPLASh, including this storymap and dashboards with running tallies of cleanup efforts! https://lnkd.in/gFGzZsJK We love getting trashy with our friends, keep up the great work ;)
