Read on to get to know and appreciate him the way that we do! Q: What’s been a memorable moment while you’ve been at Black Diamond? ◆ Definitely the 2023 Banquet. It was my first time ever meeting any of the Project Design Specialists, so it was an amazing experience to put faces to their names and their standout projects Q: How do you handle challenges and setbacks at work to overcome those obstacles? 💪 My motto is “adapt and overcome.” Work is always going to throw curveballs, but for me the key is to acknowledge the obstacle, come up with a solution, and do your best to make things work. Q: What are your interests or hobbies? ✈️ I love to read, work out, study Korean, and travel to name a few. Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself that many people may not know about you? 🎻 I previously played violin in a mariachi band, and we were a featured performer at the 2008 Mariachi Conference in Barcelona, Spain! Q: What’s been a memorable moment while you’ve been at Black Diamond? ◆ Visiting our San Jose office every couple of months and getting to see everyone in person is always a lot of fun. Q: What’s been your proudest accomplishment here at Black Diamond? 🏆 Being named Employee of the Month twice during my first year with the company, as well as picking up an award at the company banquet. It's always nice to be recognized for our hard work and Black Diamond is very good at making all of us feel appreciated. Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what are three things you couldn’t live without? 🌴 My dog, iPad, and diet Dr. Pepper. As long as I had those things, I wouldn't need to be rescued. Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape is proud to announce and congratulate the winners of our prestigious “2024 Carol Gray Annual Scholarship!” Our first awardee is Jadyn Greenwood, who is studying Sociology (with a concentration in Social Justice) and a double minor in Changemaking and Law & Ethics at the University of San Diego. Jadyn’s exceptional academic achievements with her multiple extracurricular activities helped to secure her the scholarship. Our second scholarship winner is Emmanuel Aquino, who is studying Classical Archeology at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Emmanuel’s outstanding GPA and contributions to his community helped him to stand out in our selection process. Black Diamond applauds the drive and determination of these two individuals, both of whom will be awarded $5,000 each to pursue their educational aspirations. Internship opportunities are also offered to eligible scholarship recipients. The winners of the Carol Gray Annual Scholarship are determined based on a committee using unbiased criteria, which includes scholastic achievements, extracurricular activities, leadership, determination, and hard work.
