Recently, BFF staff gathered for our annual strategic planning retreat. After two days of intense brainstorming and collaboration, our team identified key opportunities and challenges. This year, leadership coach Kim Mitchell led us in a powerful session centered in values-based strategic planning. We also defined clear priorities and a roadmap to achieve our goals for the upcoming year, setting the stage for even greater impact on Black agricultural and food entrepreneurs in the Northeast and beyond. We are grateful for this time to reflect and grow together, equipping BFF with a clear vision and a renewed commitment to our mission.

We had a fantastic time at the 1st Culinary Creatives Conference in New York, NY. The conference highlighted Black-owned food and beverage businesses, bridging the gap between innovative entrepreneurs and key industry stakeholders. The conference was a bustling hub of activity, featuring over 75 vendors (including our new investee, Nourrir!), insightful discussions on industry topics, live food demonstrations, and much more. 3C offered an unparalleled platform for networking, building partnerships, and discovering new opportunities, making it a game-changer for the growth of Black-owned food businesses. Eat Okra, a nationwide food guide app spotlighting Black-owned eateries, hosted the event. With a focus on food, culture, and community, Eat Okra celebrates the central role of food in Black joy and comfort. Huge gratitude to Eat Okra for inviting us to celebrate and connect with fellow Black food actors. We are looking forward to the next conference! #EatOkra #CulinaryCreativesConf #nycfoodies #nycfoodie #foodie #eatokratheapp #eatokra #newyork #BlackFood

We recently attended a powerful event featuring Brea Baker, author of Rooted: The American Legacy of Land Theft and The Modern Movement for Black Land Ownership. Hosted by the Center of Fiction, Baker shared her family's deeply personal story and the fraught history of Black land ownership in America. Joining Baker in conversation was fellow author and scholar Amy Godine. The event also included a reading from Rooted and a lively Q&A session with the audience. We were incredibly inspired by Baker's work to shed light on the injustices of Black land theft and to support the movement for Black land stewardship. It's a cause that aligns perfectly with our own mission. Learn more and grab Rooted here: https://lnkd.in/ePEyR6A5 #BlackLandOwnership #LandJustice #RootedBook #BlackAgriculture
