🎮🚀 On November 2nd, 30 students from Raleigh-Durham came together at the North Carolina Esports Academy to code, create, and bring their imagination to life with Epic Games' Unreal Engine! Under the guidance of instructor Nathaniel Myers and dedicated volunteers from Microsoft and Black Girls Code, students designed custom race tracks, integrated checkpoints, and explored game development fundamentals—all while building their own rocket race car game! A huge thank you to Epic Games for partnering with us to empower the next generation of game developers! 🚗💻 What an unforgettable day with Waymo! Our participants had an amazing time exploring the future of autonomous technology, guided by the incredible Waymonauts team. 🙌 The day kicked off with breakfast and ice breakers, followed by an inspiring panel featuring Waymo leaders in engineering and operations. The girls got an exclusive tour of the Waymo campus, visited the cafes and micro kitchens, and learned all about the cutting-edge technology behind Waymo’s self-driving cars. 🚙✨ To top it off, each participant was gifted a robot, and the day ended with a surprise visit from Waymo’s co-CEO, Tekedra Mawakana! 💥 A huge thank you to Waymo for hosting and inspiring the next generation of tech leaders! #BGCxWaymo #WomenInTech #FutureLeaders #STEMEducation

Our campers eagerly explored the captivating domains of gaming and AI. This past weekend we hosted the final IBM x Black Girls Code workshop of the summer in person at the NYC IBM office! Over the last few months, IBM x Black Girls Code introduced a series of AI workshops. These sessions introduced tech divas to the complex and exciting world of chatbot development leveraging the cutting-edge technology of IBM Watsonx. Big thank you to all the #IBMers who volunteered! We couldn't have pulled this event off without you! And a special shout out to Ariella Garcia - thank you for being the best co-lead and Alicia M. We recently teamed up with Black Girls Code leveraging A.I. to put real-world professional skills to work. Youth participants concluded their exploration of machine learning and emerging technologies by combining creativity with artificial intelligence to conquer the life long skill of Elevator Pitches. Learn how these inspirational youth conquered the art of public speaking.
