Same-store sales growth has improved by 2.0 percentage points in August relative to July. In addition, same-store traffic growth accelerated by 1.1 percentage points month-to-month. But, if that were the only supporting evidence, it would make for a weak case. This is because July was so negative. In addition, July was likely hurt by many adverse factors, such as the COVID surge, summer storms and unusual heat, and the first days of the Olympics.
