Our Founder and President, Vanessa Grubbs, MD, MPH raising awareness about the inequitable dismissal of Black resident physicians from training programs.
How wonderful to be a part of the energy at last week’s 26th annual Madam CJ Walker Empowerment Forum and Luncheon hosted by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Oakland/Bay Area Chapter! My fellow panelists and I kicked the morning off with sharing insights aligned with the theme of “Rooted in Advocacy” during the Empowerment Forum. Then we were treated to the Luncheon with a keynote from living legend Angela Davis. I walked away with my heart full, seen, inspired, and grateful to be in community with so many powerhouses. Kudos to my fellow panelists, it was an honor to share the stage with you: Dr. Michelle Hector II, Dr. Vanessa Grubbs, MD, MPH, Dr. Carolyn Johnson, and Mayor Courtney Welch. Congrats to all the awardees, and thank you for the gems of wisdom and inspiration you shared: Angela Davis, Erica Taylor, Ph.D., Iminah Ahmad, Joyce Gordon, Andrea Baker, and Fredrika Newton. And finally, congrats to President Shari P. Wooldridge, Event Chair Jamie Sweet, Shelly Watson, Madelyn Mackie, CCMC, NCOPE, Career Activator and the entire Oakland Bay Area Chapter of 100 Black Women for such an incredible event.
