About us
The Black Futures Lab transforms Black communities into constituencies that wield independent, political power at the municipal, state, and federal level. The problems Black communities face are complex; the solutions to those problems require imagination, experimentation, and political power. The Black Futures Lab combines strategies that help us imagine the alternatives we deserve, while building political power at the local, state and national level to implement those alternatives.

See us in the streets and we'll catch you at the polls! 👏🏽🗳️ This past week our team took some time at our offsite to canvass and knock on doors in rural North Carolina neighborhoods. Fresh off the press from WABE featuring our sister organization Black to the Future Action Fund's release of their Black Economic Agenda! Read some of the major gems 💎 from from this article below 👇🏽: 👉🏾 Our Principal, Kristin Powell shares, “It’s really important in this state where there’s so much movement in Black individual wealth and Black businesses that we also have a conversation about the policies that stand in the way of our whole community truly having wealth … not just in this state but across the country.” 👉🏾 “There is a lot of money being spent on misinformation that is literally being spent on the Black community,” said ConsciousLee. “For instance, the idea that Kamala isn’t Black, right?” He said the agenda will help people in his community make informed decisions more tailored to their well being. 👉🏾 “They approach us from a holistic approach,” added singer and songwriter Trae Crockett said following the panel. “For example, if you say that we’re gonna address health care, but we’re not gonna address housing … you leave room for people to undercut us again because they may give us that but still they may take from us in another area.” Read the full article linked below, and big thanks again to everyone who came out and participated in our #BlackEconomicAgenda launch event. https://lnkd.in/gZAFs7Yd #BlacktotheFutureActionFund #BlackFuturesLab

Last month we kicked off our “We Got the Power” series, a 3-part training program focused on power-building and campaign planning. The inaugural cohort of over 15 partner organizations from across the country will participate in virtual and in-person sessions and will learn the foundations of organizing, how to build campaigns, and practical strategies and tactics to organize our communities. THIS is what building Black political power looks like!
