As a Solar Decathlon (U.S. Department of Energy) alumnus and SD Pathways participant, I had the honor of speaking to the Delaware County Christian School 7th and 8th grade students on April 10th about Renewable Energy, with a focus on Wind. The SD Pathways program is an innovative initiative aimed at empowering individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving field of sustainable development. It offers a comprehensive curriculum covering key topics such as environmental conservation, social equity, economic development, and sustainable business practices. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging participants to explore connections between environmental, social, and economic factors and develop holistic solutions to complex sustainability issues. With a focus on real-world application and impact, participants have the opportunity to work on projects with partner organizations in areas such as renewable energy, climate resilience, waste reduction, and sustainable agriculture. By equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to become effective agents of change, the SD Pathways program plays a vital role in advancing the global sustainability agenda and building a more equitable and resilient future for all. It was inspiring to interact with these bright minds and encourage their curiosity and interest in renewable energy. As an incentive for staying engaged, I had a Kahoot at the end with Amazon Gift Cards as the reward!!! Special thanks to their teacher Stacey Hicklin for scheduling this opportunity, my partner in crime Velma Deleveaux, Ph.D. for assisting on the coordination and collaboration of the presentation materials and Kimberly Swan at The NEED Project for herding all the cats. #RenewableEnergy #Wind

Heads up! Cybersecurity is a growing concern that needs to be taken seriously. The recent United Health Care breach on February 21st compromised not just cell phones, but the entire critical infrastructure including hospitals, pharmacy services, and 9-1-1 operations. This highlights the need for more digital and cybersecurity oversight from investment stewards to hold boards accountable for their important role on these issues. As institutional shareholders and the general public, it's time to demand more on this front. We need to work together to ensure our cybersecurity is up to par within our critical infrastructure companies. Let's make sure that our investment stewards are taking the necessary steps to hold boards accountable and prioritize digital oversight. #Cybersecurity #InvestmentStewardship #DigitalOversight

Leadership comes in many forms and often it's the "hidden figures" who make the biggest impact. From the back room to the board room, these leaders have unique journeys and experiences that can inspire and motivate us all. It's important to take the time to understand and appreciate these stories, as they can help put our own challenges and successes into perspective. Let's celebrate the "hidden figures" amongst us and learn from their journeys. #leadership #hiddenfigures #inspiration

I'm excited to see the Department of Defense taking a more collaborative approach by involving academia and small/medium size innovators in their strategy. However, let's not forget the importance of updating acquisition policies to ensure smooth execution. Neglecting to update these policies can hinder speed and inundate small organizations with administrative minutia they can't cover. Let's keep moving forward towards a more inclusive, collaborative, and efficient future. #collaboration #efficiency #DoD #innovation
