India’s credit market is rapidly expanding as the country looks to become the world’s next economic growth engine. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s infrastructure plans are fueling a borrowing binge, with the local corporate bond market set to more than double to the equivalent of about $1.5 trillion by 2030. Private credit is playing an increasingly key role. And the nation’s sovereign bonds are being included in more global indexes. To provide insight into what lies ahead, Bloomberg brings you the inaugural India Credit Forum featuring Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das, Sebi Member Ananth Narayan and credit industry leaders. Perhaps no one has gained so much from the latest turnaround in the global chicken market than beef mogul Marcos Molina. The Marfrig Global Foods founder who took control of the board at rival BRF in 2022 got into poultry at the perfect time -- feed prices are down, demand is soaring and the cycle appears to be going up, up, up. Between the strong poultry market and a series of shrewd changes at the company, BRF is now the year's second-best performer in Brazil’s benchmark Ibovespa index. BRF is even discussing paying dividends again. It's not the first time Molina has tried to conquer chicken, to varying degrees of success. Before BRF, within the span of about a decade, Marfrig bought then resold UK poultry producer Moy Park, Brazilian meat company Seara Foods and US-based Keystone Foods, known primarily for its chicken nuggets. Each buy added to Marfrig’s debt, with the company named in the early 2010s the most-indebted meatpacker in the Americas. The company ultimately decided to refocus primarily on beef. Molina “has made decisions in the past that required him to sell the crown jewel in order to stay alive. But I understand that he has matured well in this sense,” said Rafael Oliveira, CFA, whose fund is a small BRF investor that has been building exposure to the stock. Now, investors are feeling reassured by his hand-picked management team's astute changes “If it weren’t for the new management, we think that BRF would be benefiting from the cycle much less.” Read more in this Bloomberg News deep dive into a remarkable turnaround from Clarice Couto, Leda Alvim and Daniel Cancel. https://lnkd.in/eeN6PDSa #chicken #meat #agriculture #equities #brazil #turnaround #commodities #food
