Unlike B2C payments, B2B transactions tend to involve larger sums, more complex invoicing, and extended payment terms - AND, often made via a vendor portal, integrated payment solution or online marketplace. Let's breakdown some common B2B payment methods: Credit Cards – Often used for smaller transactions but come with processing fees. ACH Transfers – Preferred for recurring payments and reducing costs compared to card transactions. Wire Transfers – Used for large, international transactions, though they can be costly and slow.   • Looking for a quick ROI win? REVIEW YOUR PAYMENTS – especially your global payments. This is one area that can quickly (and quietly) undermine ROI and profitability if you are not looking carefully at some key metrics. Where to start? DO THESE 3 THINGS: 1. Review your cross-border interchange fees If you have a significant number of sales from global markets, you could be facing unnecessary fees that are eating into your profits. When customers pay with cards issued in another country, businesses often face an additional 1-2% fee – no top of standard processing fees. Routing payments locally can help avoid these cross-border interchange fees and keep more profit in your pocket. 2. Figure out those Foreign Exchange (FX) Fees Remember – FX fees and cross-border fees are not the same. If your buyers are paying in X currency but the transaction is settled in Y currency, then there is a fee for converting currencies. By routing payments through local processors, you can eliminate or reduce FX fees. 3. Dive into the data on your declined transactions Do you know your authorization rate – or the percent of transactions on your site that are declined? You should. 41% of companies report a payment authorization rate of less than 70% on cross-border transactions, leading to lost sales and frustrated customers. Knowing your authorization rate will help you find out if there is an issue and get you on the road to quickly identifying why those transactions are declining and you’re losing sales. If you’re under pressure to cut costs, reduce complexity, and find lost revenue, looking into these three areas could be the difference between a PROFITABLE quarter or a very STRESSFUL one.
