Boart Longyear Argentina Welcomes Interns Who are First Women in Maintenance Team Boart Longyear Argentina welcomed interns Jimena Pereyra and Julieta Basilotta, the first women to join the company’s Argentinian maintenance team – a function traditionally composed of men. The internship program reinforces Boart Longyear’s commitment to inclusion and the development of women in mining. When asked why she started secondary training at a technical school, Jimena said, “My mother promoted my technical training. Since I was a child, I emphasized the importance of acquiring tools and knowledge in the technical field, both to facilitate my personal life due to any inconvenience that arose in the future, and to enter the labor market more directly.” Julieta said she has been impressed with Boart Longyear and the quality of her work area. “My first impression was very good. Finding all the machinery and structure at Boart Longyear was a pleasant surprise. At school, we learned from the theoretical side, so coming here and encountering the practical part was extremely captivating because it represented the possibility of seeing and learning everything that we have been studying for years.” Both Jimena and Julieta highlighted the warmth and camaraderie of everyone who welcomed them and accompanied them each day at Boart Longyear. El programa de pasantías refuerza el compromiso de Boart Longyear con la inclusión y el desarrollo de las mujeres en la minería.   Cuando se le preguntó por qué decidió comenzar la formación secundaria en una escuela técnica, Jimena dijo: "Mi madre promovió mi formación técnica. Desde pequeña hice hincapié en la importancia de adquirir herramientas y conocimientos en el ámbito técnico, tanto para facilitar mi vida personal ante cualquier inconveniente que surgiera en el futuro, como para entrar en el mercado laboral de una manera más directa".   Julieta dijo que ha quedado impresionada con Boart Longyear y la calidad de su área de trabajo. "Mi primera impresión fue muy buena. Fue una agradable sorpresa encontrar toda la maquinaria y la estructura en Boart Longyear. En la escuela aprendíamos desde el lado teórico, por lo que venir aquí y encontrarnos con la parte práctica fue algo sumamente cautivador porque representaba la posibilidad de ver y aprender de cerca todo lo que veníamos estudiando desde hace años".   Tanto Jimena como Julieta destacaron la calidez y camaradería de todos los que las recibieron y acompañan cada día en Boart Longyear.

We were thrilled to host a NAWO (National Association of Women in Operations) event at our Adelaide facility, where we welcomed industry professionals for an insightful and interactive afternoon! NAWO is dedicated to increasing the representation of women in operational roles and creating inclusive work environments. The event kicked off with a warm welcome from the NAWO committee, followed by an introduction to Boart Longyear’s operations by Ken Reid and Jason Higgs. Attendees were divided into groups for an engaging tour of our Adelaide Airport workshop, where they got a close-up look at our TruScan technology, R&D section, and various rigs. After the tour, our guests attended an informative presentation by Lauren and Chris on “Attracting and Retaining a Diverse Workforce,” followed by a panel discussion where attendees shared insights and asked questions. The day concluded with a lucky draw and a lovely afternoon tea, providing the perfect opportunity for networking. It was an honour to collaborate with NAWO and showcase our commitment to diversity and innovation in the industry.
