Check this out 👀! Recycle your old computers and electronics! They can become part of an art project!
What is "e-waste" and why do I want yours? E-waste is electronic products that are unwanted, not working, and nearing or at the end of their “useful life.” Think printers, monitors, desktops, laptops, phones, televisions, fax machines and more. (if you are curious if what you have is e-waste - PLEASE ask) I am spearheading a project to bring awareness to the need to recycle and properly dispose of e-waste. I am not looking for financial contributions to this project - rather, I need your actual e-waste items so I can create a monumental art piece. I will be turning this e-waste and old tech into a large art piece and I am actively seeking your donation to incorporate. Think of your old, unused tech as the building blocks for something meaningful. The art will represent our collective e-waste challenges and solutions. The art piece (named "Martha") has not been built or even designed yet - I need your e-waste materials to do that. I'll be building it during the first few weeks of March. If you are interested in helping to design and build this art please let me know. Thanks to the folks at Treefort Music Fest it will be exhibited at Hackfort from March 21st to March 23rd here in Boise. I will be commemorating all contributors by listing their names next to (or within) the art Together this art will help raise awareness for the responsible recylcing and disposal of e-waste. Post-show, the artwork will be deconstructed and all components will be responsibly recycled with the help of The Reuseum (This organization excels in diverting e-waste from landfills by sorting it into categories for resale, reuse, and recycling. Their efforts support children's STEM education by turning e-waste proceeds into meaningful programs for youth) Please let me know whether you have a single old cell phone - or a backroom full of monitors, laptops and desktops. You can come drop it by my office, or I will come with a truck / trailer to pick it up. Please pass this message on by commenting, reposting and asking your colleagues if they can contribute. If you have already contributed, please tell someone you contributed and let people know. #ewasterecycling #hackfort2024 #arrrtt
