A record 500+ #BoiseStateCOEN students attended this week's fair, including our newest Freshmen cohort and student organizations and affinity groups like our Society of Women Engineers section. A special thank you to all 100+ employers and Boise State University alumni as they continue their commitment to hiring and leading the next generation of innovators and leaders with their blue turf mindset. Srinivasa Jasti comes from a family of farmers in India. He was just like any kid across the globe who would rather play than study. He enjoyed playing sports and recreational activities such as cricket and volleyball. Jasti began his career in technology at a very early time when computers were becoming more accessible to the public. Seeing the innovative world of computers and networks, he pursued degrees in computer science from Bharathidasan University. With a decorated academic background, some may ask why Jasti would have applied to Boise State Online's Cyber Operations and Resilience Program. Kacey Wheeler is already a fledgling entrepreneur, despite only being months away from graduating from Boise State Online's undergraduate Cyber Operations and Resilience Program. In March 2023, Wheeler pitched a business idea at Hackfort, a technology branch of Boise's Treefort Music Festival. Her cybersecurity business geared toward children and older adults won a $4,000 prize. This week, attend Boise State University's Election Security Panel on Wednesday, October 9th at 7PM in the Alumni and Friends Center Ballroom. This panel includes representation from the Department of Computer Science's Idaho Election Cybersecurity Center, Ada County Elections, staff from the Idaho Secretary of State's office and the Boise State Political Science department. The panel will examine the steps being undertaken locally and nationally to address concerns on election security. John Martin, a doctoral student in the Boise State Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering, recently completed his internship at the heart of U.S. policymaking – the White House. This summer, Martin worked alongside top policymakers in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, contributing to efforts aimed at improving health, prosperity, security, environmental quality, and justice for all Americans through science and technology.
