This year, first-of-its-kind COP28 UAE Business & Philanthropy Climate Forum placed business at the forefront of the global climate conversation, bringing together over 1,300 business & philanthropy leaders from over 100 countries to exchange ideas, co-create solutions and spur tangible action. Featuring 52 sessions, the Forum engaged over 200 speakers who explored climate-related challenges & opportunities. From the announcement of the Blended Finance Vehicle which will develop climate projects and businesses in emerging markets and developing economies, to the Data for Methane Action Campaign which proves over $100 million worth of funding to convert methane data to action, to the launch of Join the Planet, a new campaign backed by the legendary Lionel Messi, the Forum mobilized close to $7billion in funding for climate and nature action. Strategic philanthropic capital flows are an essential component of climate and nature action. Following a keynote speech delivered by International Monetary Fund's Kristalina Georgieva, the COP28 UAE Special Representative for Business and Philanthropy, Badr Jafar, came together with Bill Gates, Ray Dalio, Dr. Precious Motsepe, H.E Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair and Rima Al Mokarrab to discuss how scaling strategic philanthropic capital flows can help climate and nature action by generating a multiplier effect on business and government capital towards climate investments. #BPCF #COP28

As we conclude the COP28 UAE Business & Philanthropy Climate Forum we're proud to have brought together some of the world's most prominent business leaders, Heads of State and philanthropists to make urgent action on climate and nature challenges. From advancing the just energy transition, to harnessing natural capital for net zero, to providing direct access to finance for Indigenous Peoples, the two-day conference has made vital progress on many of the biggest challenges we face. Today, Dr. Liesbet Steer, President of the EDC (Education Development Center), spoke on a panel at the COP28 UAE Business and Philanthropy Climate Forum that highlighted the importance of green skills in the race to reach net zero targets. In her opening remarks, H.R.H Princess Lamia M Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, emphasised the critical juncture we have reached in the response to climate change, with leaders needing to come together to create a pipeline of talent that can help to deliver on climate commitments.
