The Brain Health Research Institute (BHRI) is founded on the view that a thorough understanding of brain health across the lifespan is essential as a window into prevention and treatment of brain disease.
The institute includes more than 150 KSU faculty members in over 25 different departments, schools, and colleges throughout the Kent State University community. These faculty work together with researchers from external partner institutions that include Akron Children's Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic and the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED).
Our goal is to translate basic neuroscience discoveries into new treatments and care for brain and nervous system diseases.
The mission of Brain Health Research Institute is to foster and support collaborative research and educational programs leading to innovative discoveries about the brain which will ultimately improve the health of people in our communities and beyond.
Working in collaboration with both our internal and external partners, the Brain Health Research Institute serves as a vehicle for multidisciplinary collaboration in the fields of neuroscience research and education, breaking down traditional boundaries and allowing researchers, faculty, students and health care professionals to work together to help answer some of the most pressing questions of our time.
