Guess Who’s Writing About Winning an Award Now? Yes, the person who usually writes about everyone else winning awards and harassing them for their picture, is now writing about his own. BELD is thrilled to announce that our very own James Ritchie, has been honored with the Communicator of the Year award by the Municipal Electric Association of Massachusetts – Communications & Energy Services (MEAM-CES). James, the dedicated voice behind BELD’s engaging communications, has been recognized for his exceptional work in keeping our community informed and connected. Whether it’s through our website, social media, at local events, or various other channels, James has always ensured that our messages are clear, timely, and impactful. “I’m usually the one celebrating everyone else’s achievements,” smirked James. “Now it’s my turn to step into the spotlight and let them take my picture! —I’m not used to this.” This award is a testament to James’s commitment to excellence and his passion for communication. His efforts have not only kept the community informed about BELD’s initiatives and services but have also played a crucial role in promoting public understanding and support for BELD. Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved honor! Here’s to many more years of outstanding communication and community engagement at BELD. This year, Northeast Public Power Association (NEPPA)'s 16th Annual RodE&O Conference and Expo was hosted by our neighbors at the Hull Municipal Light Plant right on the beach. At the Rodeo, three-person teams battle it out in six thrilling events, each geared towards promoting safe work practices. This exciting competition aims to boost skills and job know-how, strengthen working bonds, foster teamwork, and offer families and attendees a deeper insight into utility work. A big shoutout to our team – Matt, JT, & Jon for clinching the top spot in the 4kV Cutout Replacement event! Great job guys.
Our BELD Mutual Aid crews are once again answering the call. Following last week’s April New England Nor’easter, we learned that our friends at New Hampshire Electric Cooperative, Inc. were hit particularly hard. In true mutual aid spirit, we wasted no time. We loaded up trucks and dispatched two of our teams to lend a hand. Throughout the weekend, our crews have been working tirelessly, and they're still on the ground for another day or two. Their mission: to ensure everyone is restored safely and swiftly before returning home to recharge. Take a moment to appreciate the #historic image featuring a plaque and the pole behind it. That very pole, set in 1939, marked the beginning of NHEC's journey in bringing electric service to the NH countryside. #BELDcares #MutualAid #CommunitySupport #NHECStrong #PublicPower
