Have you ever looked around a business meeting and wondered how everyone ended up in the same navy Patagonia vest? Or how everyone got the memo to switch from coffee to Celsius at the same time? Or why all the Gen Zers are walking around with stickers on their faces? (Seriously, Starface World pimple patches are EVERYWHERE…) We can attribute the widespread success of these brands in large part to social proof — aka, the force that compels people to follow others based on their positive experiences.  Social proof may be an old-school marketing principle, but it's arguably never been more relevant than it is today... ⭐ 95% of shoppers read online reviews before making a purchase (Brand Rated) 👍 83% of consumers recommend brands they follow on social to others (Sprout Social, Inc.) 🛍️ 82% of Americans ask for referrals and recs before making any purchase (The Harris Poll) But in our hyper-connected, information-overloaded world 🌎, it's not enough to put out a good product and hope people like it enough to spread the word. As a marketer and branding expert, I believe there’s a lot you can do to from a brand strategy standpoint to set a solid foundation of what you want your brand to be. But this quote from David is spot on… At the end of the day, the only thing that is FULLY in your control is how you cultivate your company culture which is what shapes your brand perception.  How you show up for your internal teams  How you respond to customer needs  How you give back to causes that are connected to your mission   It can’t be driven by sales, it can’t be affected by investors.
