Took home the gold at AIA Houston 2024 Design Awards. 🥇 The next-generation Dr. Shannon Walker Neighborhood Library received the award for Architecture Less Than 50,000 SF. Project: 📍 Dr. Shannon Walker Neighborhood Library Client: 📚 Houston Public Library | City of Houston “The integration of the landscape and form reaches out to the different parts of the neighborhood formally but also spatially. The voids, use of glass and color is powerful. It is very important to invest in these types of buildings.” –Jesus Robles, Assoc. AIA #AIA #HoustonArchitecture #DesignAwards

Congrats team for the amazing work
The Houston Zoo's new 5-story, 146,000 SF Headquarters Building integrates their administrative offices and employee parking with environmentally friendly features such as bird-friendly glass and an employee garden with a cistern for rainwater irrigation. The project also includes backup power generation and doubles as the Zoo’s hub for emergency operations. Precise planning ensured no interruptions to the Zoo’s daily operations during construction. The project is expected to achieve LEED Gold Certification, emphasizing sustainability and commitment to environmentally conscious practices for its Class-A office space. This month's alumni spotlight features Fernando Brave (M.Arch. '88). As a previous UH Architecture + Design Distinguished Alumni Award winner in 2020, he's achieved many things with his firm BRAVE / Architecture. For example, the firm was named Firm of the Year in 2018 by AIA Houston, and in 2021, it received a Firm Honor Award from the Texas Society of Architects. 🏆 Accomplishing these feats is all thanks to the work he and his firm does. "I am particularly fond of the fact that we primarily serve community-based projects. We work with clients whose missions are, in different ways, to improve the quality of life in the region," he said. 🌟 Read more about Fernando at https://bit.ly/3Sw78FZ! #UHCoAD #HinesCollege #AlumniSpotlight
