    Advocacy and communications tactics have evolved over the years thanks to advances in technology, and while some tools we use may be newer, why we use them isn’t. We've said it before, we'll say it again, "When you need a friend, it’s too late to make one." Actually, this adage is widely attributed to Mark Twain, and is the gold standard for building any successful advocacy campaign, be it coalescing people to support their veterinarian or champion consumer rights. Developing relationships with your key stakeholders long before you may need their assistance is key to achieving your win.     “When you need a friend, it’s too late to make one.” This adage has served as our rallying cry for organizations and industries for years. Organizations that put in the effort to build legitimate connections with the people they serve are far better positioned to survive challenging situations than those that rely solely on transactions. As we’ve seen with the pandemic, entire industries and organizations can be disrupted in an instant. Futures that once felt certain are no longer guaranteed. On a smaller scale, proposed government and regulatory policies pose credible threats to industries every day. Those that survive rely on the voices of a mobilized group of supporters who take action and show support when it matters most.     Flashback to our February 2020 engagement with Bolivia Verifica, which is now the only IFCN-recognized fact-checking organization in Bolivia. What started as a two-month sprint to build digital communications capacity quickly escalated into an ongoing effort to counter COVID-19 disinformation. We led a series of capacity-building seminars focused on what it means to be a digital-first organization — meeting your audience where it is. We’re happy to report that BV took this to heart and has continued to innovate and grow (including launching a TikTok account that now has over 206K followers) and has recently celebrated its fifth anniversary.     Bravo has helped spread democracy around the globe through various strategic communications projects and, ironically, now we’re working to spread those very ideas and ideals across our commonwealth. Democracy works well when you know what the rules are and follow them. We’ve helped to launch two efforts to make sure that happens this year. One, the Democracy Defense Project (https://lnkd.in/ekcAvrxN), defends the transparency, safety, security and validity of the state’s elections. The other, democracyFIRST (https://lnkd.in/e4u_Qqii), is a cross-partisan effort working to restore political consensus for democratic norms for our election process. These groups are helping people understand how the process works and ensure its integrity so that post-Election Day, everyone can trust and accept the results regardless of the outcome.

    Rain, Rain, Go Away? Nah, We'll Play Anyway! Bravo Group's 2024 'Family Fun Day' was supposed to be a home run at the Senators Baseball Game last week.
