Bridge Multimedia has been following the progress of accessibility company Sign-Speak https://lnkd.in/eMkG_YP with great interest. Based in Syracuse New York, Sign-Speak is an AI research and product startup that is dedicated to creating solutions to empower Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Sign-Speak’s purpose is not to replace human interpreters, but to serve as a supplementary tool that can be embedded in places like drive-thru restaurants and other point-of-sale locations. The goal is to allow easier access, for the Deaf community. Sign-Speak shares an important philosophy with Bridge Multimedia - that it is crucial to involve Deaf people in accessibility and technology research and development efforts. According to Sign Speak’s Chief Product Officer, Nikolas Kelly, their team wants the Deaf community to provide feedback, whether positive or negative. That way, Sign Speak is not simply creating technology for Deaf people; it’s creating it with them. Bridge is happy to support and promote this forward-thinking company. When the accessible CyberChase games were made available, free on the PBS KIDS website, they were accessed millions of times within months. The Conversation, a non-profit independent news organization, recently posted an excellent article about the history (and future) of accessible gaming. From video arcade games to eSports.
