Under Secretary for Health, US Department of Veterans Affairs

VETERANS ARE NOW EXEMPT FROM COPAYS FOR THEIR FIRST 3 MENTAL HEALTH VISITS EVERY YEAR Stigma still exists around mental health care in the Veteran community, and it often takes another Veteran’s lived experience to convince our heroes to get the care they need. At U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, we are concentrating on breaking down the most important barriers to getting Vets timely access to mental health care when they need it. Financial concerns should never be a barrier for ANY Veteran to get the mental health care they’ve earned and deserve. So we are now eliminating copays for three mental health visits for every Veteran, every year— and this policy is now retroactive to June of last year. That means if you are a Veteran who got mental health care after that date, and paid a co-pay in the process, we will also reimburse you for up to three visits through our announcement this week. We know that Veterans at risk for suicide are best served by VA. Our care teams are the best at making sure that risk is minimized — and that Veterans are placed on a pathway to thrive. Each and every new Veteran we are able to serve with VA mental health care is a success story. And we hope to offer this care to more Veterans than ever before! https://lnkd.in/ey84x3j7
