About us

Bridges is a nonprofit organization that unites the Deaf, deaf and hard of hearing communities through education, services, and support. Since 1927, the agency has provided a wide range of programs and services to the Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky areas. These include after school programs, wellness classes, case management services, American Sign Language interpreters, community education and outreach, and other programs for children and adults who face communication barriers in the hearing world. Bridges helps remove those barriers, empowering individuals to achieve their full potential.   • #BridgesEAST is excited to welcome Sydnee Saucedo and Carrie Jo Welty to the #BridgesDHH family! Sydnee, once a volunteer and intern at #BridgesTN has returned home to the Tri-Cities area where she will serve as our part-time Empowerment Coordinator. Sydnee, who is Deaf, is a social worker who has worked with Deaf literacy, Deaf camps, and Deaf mentoring in addition to her social work experience. As Empowerment Coordinator, she will help our Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and hard of hearing #Community with individual advocacy, housing, food security, employment, education, and much more. Welcome, Sydnee! Carrie Jo, CJ, brings a wide variety of experience to her new role as the part-time Outreach Coordinator. CJ, who is Deaf, has been a Deaf Mentor, early childhood educator, and event planner. She has degrees in Office Technology and Early Childhood Education and a certificate in Deaf Culture. CJ will be working on activities and events and outreach and trainings. Welcome, CJ!
