So saddened by the passing of Ken Dunn - a true gem in the Chicago community
Ken Dunn - A beacon of integrity in Chicago Sustainability I take pride in the fact that Ken Dunn saw us as kindred spirits. That's high praise, coming from a man who put family, community and the earth above all else. His last email to me mentioned his work with Mayor Harold Washington, bringing recycling education and access to the CHA (Chicago Housing Authority) projects. He wasn't boasting about that lucrative city contract - knowing Ken, he did it because it was the right thing to, and hopefully he remembered to bill them. Sharing a story that highlighted a simple solution to convert wasted resources into income for people who needed it was his way of teaching, guiding the next generation with his humble wisdom. As a recycling champion, urban farmer and THE pioneer of composting in Chicago, Ken dedicated his time and energy to helping humans live more sustainably, in order to help the environment stave off the impacts of climate change. The most resourceful man in Chicago, he fought the good fight for this planet and this city for more decades than I've been alive! He was a mentor to so many. The least we can do to keep his legacy alive is to practice what we preach, and take action to transform positive intentions into positive impacts. Ken Dunn - we miss you! https://lnkd.in/gigwfxUs
