For #HispanicHeritageMonth, we’re highlighting some of our employees whose work helps further our company’s mission. Today, we’re excited to spotlight Rosaura Angie Du Toit (“Angie”), VA ALM Solution Delivery Manager. 💻 Early in Angie’s career, she held a variety of roles in areas like operations, program and project management, and process improvement. Leveraging her professional experience, she was eventually given the opportunity to become a Scrum Master on a data team before joining our company. At Brighthouse Financial, Angie oversees the end-to-end delivery of projects that require hedging models development. 👨🏽👩🏽👧🏽 Angie shares that her family and cultural traditions were important aspects of her life when growing up in Mexico City. “Once I moved into my adult life and started living in the USA, I realized so much of what I learned are valuable lessons that I can pass on to my own children.” 🇲🇽 In addition to passing on important cultural lessons, Angie has also prioritized sharing her native language with her children. “At home, I speak to my kids in Spanish; and I also set up their profiles on Netflix in Spanish so they can get used to the language and communicate with their grandparents.” 💭 If Angie could give one piece of advice, it’d be to learn or do something new every day. “[Whether it’s] a new word, skill, or recipe – learning helps me be present and create memories that make my day more unique.” #LAHM #LatinAmericanHeritageMonth

Today, we’re excited to spotlight Guillermo Cardoza, Senior IT Solution Owner. 👨🏽💼Guillermo has held a variety of roles throughout his career, beginning with data entry, reporting, and technical writing. Leveraging that expertise allowed him to work as a business analyst for a decade before transitioning into a product owner role. In his current position, he oversees the end-to-end delivery of projects that require business software development. 👪🏽 While reflecting on his heritage, Guillermo shares that he’s a mix of cultures and languages. He explains, “I’m half German and half Puerto Rican. I grew up speaking German and Spanish at home and learned English in school, so I was always translating from one language to another.” To this day, he only talks to his mom in German, and to his dad in Spanish, to continue practicing the languages. “It keeps me close to both cultures.” If Guillermo could give one piece of advice, it’d be to embrace the cliché of getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. “To me, it means putting yourself in positions where you’re not confident, are challenged, and can fail.” He says he’s had the chance to meet people who are masters at their craft – and have failed more times than they have succeeded. “That has been an inspiration for me to keep trying until I get it right.” #LAHM #LatinAmericanHeritageMonth
