We measure your oral microbiome to help you understand & improve your oral health

About us

Bristle helps you measure, understand, and improve your oral health. Our mouths are the gateways to our bodies and play a critical role in our overall health. Oral disease like cavities and gum disease are tied to increased risk for conditions including Alzheimer's, diabetes, and heart disease. There has not been a way to measure oral health. Dental care today revolves around diagnosing and treating oral disease but does little in the way of prevention and whole-body health. Bristle analyzes the oral microbiome - the makeup of bacteria, fungi, and viruses in saliva - to measure oral health status. Some of these microbes are helpful, and contribute to good oral health while lowering our risk for disease. Other microbes are harmful, directly or indirectly leading to oral and systemic disease. Our test provides you with direct insight into your oral health and risk factors for disease. Based on other factors including your medical history, diet, and hygiene, we pair you with personalized recommendations focused on repairing and maintaining balance in your oral microbiome. We believe that improving oral health is a fundamental step towards improving overall health - and we'd like to help you get here.

Bristle is now live on Rupa! Oral health is overall health, and we're so excited to have our first oral microbiome test available to our practitioners! 🦷 A huge thank you Danny Grannick and Kristen Judge for all your hard work and efforts!

Our oral health is all too often overlooked — “that’s for the dentist, not the doctor.” 😅 But this is a false dichotomy. It’s silly that we think of our oral health as separate from the rest of our health. Our mouths are part of our bodies, and poor oral microbiome health has been linked to many chronic conditions. It’s become a key component in understanding our overall health. That’s why more and more root cause focused healthcare practitioners diving into oral health to help their patients. Today, I’m so excited to have Bristle join the Rupa Health platform with their oral microbiome test — available today in our catalog! 💥 With one easy saliva sample, Bristle detects over 100 different bacteria living in your mouth. They then give a full analysis on the composition and provide lifestyle recommendations for improving oral health. Welcome Bristle to the Rupa Health family! 🪥

Partner Spotlight: La Costa Dental Excellence 🌊 "We’re changing lives with Bristle Health. Oral microbiome testing allows us to pinpoint & address the root cause of oral conditions in patients who have struggled for decades. The mouth is the gateway to the body; we see that when we improve a patient’s oral health, their systemic conditions stabilize too.” Meet the Dankworths! Drs. Steve Dankworth, Kimberly Dankworth & Piper Dankworth, along with their dental team, have provided best-in-class dental care across San Diego for over 20 years. ❤️ Treating patients, not just teeth We believe that the forefront of dental care is the practice of Wellness Dentistry - treating oral health as a critical component of whole body health. A sickness in the mouth will inevitably affect other parts of the body in measurable ways. By incorporating factors like nutrition, sleep & exercise into our dental care we help patients improve other facets of their health. Over the years we have seen our patients’ A1C improve, blood pressure go down, cholesterol get better, IBS resolve, and Diverticulitis flare-ups stop. Our team heavily invests in continuing education on the latest advancements in our understanding of oral health & new ways to treat disease. As members & mentors of Kois Center, LLC, our team prioritizes a science & prevention-first model when it comes to oral health. 🦠 Preventive & personalized care through the oral microbiome Bristle's comprehensive test identifies both beneficial and harmful bacteria and fungi, providing a complete view of a patient's oral health and enabling personalized care. Our patients also receive access to their results. Understanding their oral health through the intuitive and educational report helps patients engage more deeply in their treatment plans. The oral microbiome plays a crucial role in overall health. Identifying pathogens that contribute to both oral and systemic diseases allows us to develop targeted strategies for treatment. For example, periodontal disease is linked to 57 different systemic conditions. By pinpointing the underlying pathogens, we can target and eliminate them, reducing risk factors for the associated conditions. The results have been transformative, leading to better diabetes control, lower blood pressure, improved cholesterol levels, and reduced gastrointestinal issues. These benefits highlight why salivary testing is essential and should become a standard practice. As cardiologists Bale and Doneen suggest, reducing heart attack rates begins in the dental office.
