    Dust off your calculators and put your creative hats on, it's 2025 budget time for a lot of organizations out there. The time of year when the following dance takes place: 1. Finance sends out THAT comms saying it is indeed budget planning season and 1st drafts are due back in 2 weeks 2. Department heads follow up team managers with "what do you need for next year?" 3. Team managers spend inordinate amounts of time pulling together whatever data they can get their hands on to justify their 'wishlist' (re: budget increase) 4. Department heads have multiple meetings with their direct reports to make sure they are accounting for everything, before confirming 1st draft completion to Finance 5. Finance team gets together as a group to laugh at all of the budget increase requests, before sending a blanket response along the lines of... "No budget expense increases will be approved for the upcoming year. Please revise and send back by COB Friday" 6. Department and Team managers frantically meet, revise, meet, revise and meet again, magically bringing their new wishlist to within a dollar of their current budget, and sending back to Finance 7. Finance enjoys another collective hysterical laugh at the fact that they've managed to once again have all leaders in the business jumping through so many hoops - all the while knowing they had the following written and ready to send out months ago: "Thank you all for your time and dedication to the budget planning process, based on strategic direction, we've decided to cut everyone's operating budget by 10%. Have a wonderful day!" Of course the above example is all in jest... . . . ... or is it?? 😉 Want to change how this dance is done in your organization?     Thanks to Ric Pratte for sharing some fascinating insights into managing a remote/hybrid team! While my experience and the results our customer see in Bramble validate these insights, it's always great to sense-check with some external research...for instance, did you know that: - 75% of organizations have not trained their leaders to be effective at managing distributed teams - 25% of employees feel their organization has provided good training on best practices for remote/hybrid working - Only 24% of organizations have established habits/norms for remote meetings. Your frontline leaders can play a HUGE role in lifting the engagement and performance of their teams through a heightened understanding of the best way to manage remote/hybrid workforces.
