Finishing up the week with a #FriYAY for Kristy Myers, the administrative assistant who makes us look good, the up in our "Get to Know Browning" series. Kristy has been with Browning for 16 years and over those years has built a wealth of institutional knowledge. Paired with her efficient handling of client inquiries and document/project management skills, she keeps our team and projects moving smoothly in the right direction. For her favorite Browning project she selected Marian University Indianapolis' Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences. What's not to love? It is LEED Gold certified, has striking architecture, and houses the first College of Osteopathic Medicine and Marian University’s School of Nursing. In addition to the expected classrooms, lecture halls, and lab space, there are simulation and skills labs to mirror hospital and physician office environments, a high-tech anatomy lab, an osteopathic manipulative medicine lab, and chapel. Kristy loves that the 50-seat chapel is furnished with wooden furniture made from cherry trees milled from the site! . Next up in our Get to Know Browning series is Brett Miller, Project Manager. Brett just celebrated his 10th anniversary with Browning earlier this year and has spent his entire career in construction. He’s a Purdue Building Construction Management graduate who did a stint of building material sales, health care construction in Arizona, and has worked up the ranks to be a project manager here at Browning. Day to day Brett is responsible for collaborating with and providing oversight to the project’s stakeholders through coordinating schedules, managing budgets, maintaining quality, and ultimately is responsible for successfully delivering the construction project. When asked about his favorite Browning project, Brett also picked MacAllister Machinery Co., Inc. HQ.  Yes, again… but since he wants to talk about the shop’s modern systems and customer solutions, he can be the last to choose it as his favorite.  The heavy machinery shop might have a “retro industrial” vibe with touches like the skylights running along the center of wings of the shop area, but don’t be fooled beneath those architectural touches there are equipment service bays feature state-of-the-art hoisting crane equipment, and fluid distribution and exhaust systems.  The first Caterpillar, natural gas-fired generator that provides continuous power installed in Indiana was shipped from Germany and installed to reduce electric utility consumption when on-site demand meets certain levels as well as producing heat for use within the building.  There’s also a paint booth large enough to accommodate and efficiently paint the massive machinery they service and a track bay where they replace the caterpillar tracks (while Brett was still there they were working on a machine being shipped to Egypt!)
