We visited a stunning 4,000 sq. ft. home (6,000 sq. ft. including the garage and patio) built by Green Machine Buildings and Wayne Griffiths Custom Homes in Ponca City, Oklahoma, showcasing what can be achieved with BuildBlock ICFs. Perched on a hilltop overlooking the lake, the entire house is built with ICF, including the garage. Another feature is the suspended concrete roofing system that allows the building to be more airtight and disaster resilient. One of the homeowner’s main goals was energy efficiency, and ICFs was key to achieving it. The home also has an infinity pool visible from every room with a lake view, ambient lighting, and geothermal flooring, all controllable remotely via smartphone. It's powered by solar panels with a backup generator for emergencies. Given Oklahoma's frequent windstorms and tornadoes, the home includes impact-resistant windows and an ICF storm shelter in the master closet. Opening day is just around the corner for this new Sherwin-Williams location in Oklahoma City that was built with BuildBlock ICFs and Dolese Bros. Co. concrete! This build perfectly highlights the benefits that ICFs bring to commercial and retail construction and is an excellent example of integrating the Super Floor System with ICF construction. By utilizing BuildBlock ICFs and the Super Floor System, AC OWEN CONSTRUCTION was able to cut construction cost, increase the construction speed and efficiency, and build an incredibly strong and durable structure with fantastic energy efficiency and a lower average monthly utility bill! This project also highlights the ease of ICF construction as this was KBA Constructors first experience building with ICFs and they were able to quickly learn the ICF installation methods and techniques for a successful build. The design features several unique aspects such as multiple finishes, large glass openings, and a large loading bay, demonstrating how easy it can be to integrate other trades and finishes into ICF construction. This 8,000 sq ft ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) project in Charles City, Iowa, was developed, constructed, and installed by Norm Zimmerman. The ICF installation and concrete pouring took just 5 days, cutting a month off the project timeline due to the lightweight, easy-to-use, and efficient nature of ICFs compared to traditional construction methods. Key features include heated floors and a gambrel roof at the front, designed to resemble a barn. The building is also equipped with all-LED lighting, Energy Star appliances, high-insulated foam-filled vinyl windows, and an R-60 attic insulation, creating a highly efficient and sustainable environment.
