It's an exciting week for BHPN as we launched the new Public Health Primer: Engaging Community Development for Health Equity! The primer was developed through a collaboration between Build Healthy Places Network and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) to establish mutually supportive collaborations between these two sectors to advance health equity. It emphasizes the importance of resident leadership and provides guidance on how relationship-building can address injustices and promote equitable change in communities. Explore the transformative journey of the new primer 👉 https://ow.ly/HivP50QE5e5 #ThoughtLeadership #UpstreamInvestments #BuildingBridges #EquitableChange #EquityInAction #SharedResponsibility #EquitableCommunities #VitalConditions

Build Healthy Places Network's Co-Executive Director presented at Opportunity Finance Network's annual conference 2024 in L.A. with our partners at Verge Impact Partners and Fahe
Co Executive Director, Build Healthy Places Network | Social Impact Fellow, UC Berkeley School of Public Health
Catch up post. 🎂 Fabulous at 40! What a week celebrating Opportunity Finance Network’s 40th year at their annual conference in L.A. 'Made for this moment' was the perfect tagline for this national network that empowers the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) sector with funding, resources and advocacy to expand financial access in underserved communities. At Build Healthy Places Network, we spend time building the field around the Community Development sector as natural partners in health equity work. At #OFN40, from the big stage we heard how important it will be to engage community as OFN deploys $2.29 billion in Greenhouse Gas Reduction funding through the EPA’s Clean Community Investment Accelerator program So a perfect time to present (on a smaller stage) alongside Vedette Gavin at Verge Impact Partners as we workshopped our recently released Community Driven Data tool for the first time with practitioners in the CDFI sector. We were joined by Katy Stigers, Research Director at Fahe who generously shared her practitioner's perspective and experience with community driven data in her work in Appalachia. A tremendous engaged group, despite being at the end of a busy conference, clearly indicated there are many opportunities for deepening this approach with mission-driven lenders to advance health equity. We look forward to that work! Overall it was wonderful to see many colleagues and allies in this journey at the conference, lots of good conversations, and new connections and friends. Congratulations to Harold Pettigrew, Jr. and all at OFN on a great conference. #OFN40 #healthequity #communitydevelopment #cdfi #multisector
