A new report by UCSF Benioff Homelessness & Housing Initiative sheds light on the unique challenges faced by pregnant people experiencing homelessness. This powerful research highlights the urgent need for tailored support services. At Building Changes, we recognize the importance of addressing maternal health. Our work in Yakima and Pierce Counties, integrating Diversion into Maternity Support Services (MSS) and Infant Case Management (ICM), is making a real impact. By meeting people where they are and connecting them to housing solutions while they receive health services, we're helping pregnant and postpartum individuals secure stable housing and a healthier future for their families. https://lnkd.in/gxn8n-HB

Building Changes is proud to support Homestead Community Land Trust in presenting Isabel Wilkerson, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Humanities Medal. She will join host Marcus Harrison Green, on September 12, 2024 in an evening of conversation to benefit Homestead Community Land Trust. Wilkerson is the author of the critically acclaimed, New York Times bestsellers The Warmth of Other Suns, and Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. We're excited for what is sure to be an illuminating conversation with Ms. Wilkerson, the second in a series convened by Homestead to explore the systemic issues that create disparities in who has access to buying a home and the solutions and resilience that address these issues. All net proceeds of this event will build more permanently affordable homes for income-qualified households in our region and enable Homestead to steward land in trust for the benefit of the community and support community-led housing developments.
