It has been a great week at the #OneUtahSummit in Cedar City! A few highlights: BZI was honored with the prestigious "Rural Rockstar Award" for our significant contributions to rural development across southern Utah. BZI Innovation Park Project Executive Drake Howell had the privilege of presenting on the socioeconomic impact of our rural initiatives relating to the in-progress BZI Innovation Park.  We had an incredible time hosting Summit attendees for a special dinner and the opportunity to share the future of construction with VR simulation at the Nautilus One building in BZI Innovation Park. A huge thank you to local leaders, and everyone who joined us in celebrating the continued progress of our 820-acre sustainable industrial park. We’re proud to see how our efforts are positively shaping Iron County and beyond. How do you think the use of virtual reality in construction will reshape the industry in the next 5-10 years? We’ve partnered with Resolve BIM to provide an accessible approach to VR with untethered remote viewing of 2-D projects in a 3-D format, helping clients and trade partners visualize projects like never before while improving efficiency, safety, and collaboration. Additionally, our nationally recognized and exclusive training center, SteelTech Academy will soon be integrating VR-simulation training into safety, quality control, and skills instruction. This will allow for real-time problem-solving opportunities, practice handling hazardous situations in a risk-free environment, and general efficiency in learning through immersion and interaction. Accessibility and ease-of-use allow many of the company’s divisions, customers and partners to use the technology and experience the benefits together. “With wireless abilities, I can have team members, trade partners, and customers throughout our national work sites and offices walking through a virtual view of a project simultaneously,” says Wilford Jessop, Chief Information Technology Officer at BZI. Innovation rarely happens overnight, it's built piece by piece.   Kicking off our Innovation Features is the Panel Table®, a groundbreaking development in construction.   When BZI first introduced panelization, it was nearly unheard of in construction. Traditionally, stick-building involved high-risk work at dangerous heights and with substantial labor costs. But, after being awarded a project larger than we’d ever handled, we had to rethink our approach. How could we work more safely and efficiently? The idea to pre-build panels at ground level and lift them into place became the driving force behind the creation of the Panel Table®.   While the team was excited by the concept, industry experts were skeptical. “That will never work,” was a phrase that was echoed.   The first iteration of the Panel Table® was rudimentary at best—two sawhorses, joists, and manually placed decking, with forklifts maneuvering the setup across the job site. Despite its simplicity, this early system drastically improved safety and labor efficiency, allowing us to complete a once-daunting job with surprising ease.   Through each iteration improvements were made: we added casters, a gantry, and a drive system. Each improvement allowed us to build faster, safer, and with higher quality.   We pushed the boundaries at each new project- adapting the table to handle rough terrain, adverse weather, and heavier panels. Eventually, the Panel Table® became self-contained, equipped with welding capabilities, a generator, and remote diagnostics, making it efficient in all environments.   With each iteration, we shattered expectations- achieving production rates, safety standards, and flexibility that surpassed industry benchmarks.   Then came the MezzMaster™, a game-changer in our approach. By allowing joists to be handled from below using a forklift, we eliminated the need for cranes at certain heights and reduced space requirements. Now, the Panel Table® could remain stationary while the MezzMaster™ maneuvered through buildings to place panels.   This innovation prompted us to rethink the Panel Table® design. We removed now unnecessary features, cutting costs in half while boosting versatility and efficiency by eliminating the drive system. These calculated risks and creative solutions set us on a path with more momentum than we ever expected.   From Thomas Harker BZI COO  “Innovation is a journey that demands both respect and grit.
