A huge thank you to John Laino and the team at BuildOps for inviting me in for an AMA session during their monthly “All Hands” meeting last week. It was really awesome getting to chat with the folks who are directly responsible for developing our industry’s leading software solution. We got to talk about how BuildOps is differentiating Sloan Mechanical Services from our competitors, but most excitingly, what’s coming down the pipeline. It speaks volumes for a company to allow customers to have a voice, and they certainly did that during our time together. I can’t wait to see what the platform looks like a year from now. See the red? I have to fill in the red before I do this import. My bloodshot eyes didn’t have the answers but I knew who did. I’m a firm believer in how you treat people is directly related to how they respond. This is something I was pretty solid about even years before reading any HBS books about it. I often convey this perception of a cranky cowboy until you get to know me. Years of me dragging my welding leads through the mud and dirt will never change my core, maybe solidified me. I needed help tonight from our software provider doing financials for a project with one our companies and sent my guy an email. My guy. He’s my guy. After 8:00pm EST and he’s at company training in LA , I’m just being hopeful he replies. Justin replies quickly with a give me 10. He calls and fills in the holes and says send the excel sheet to me before you dump it into the system. A huge shoutout to Justin at BuildOps, he’s taking care of his customers the same way I expect ours to be taken care of.
